RE: PLAY project – 1, 2, 3, the reel is spinning!
In February Pazi!park organized a special workshop for children of the Karel Destovnik Kajuh Elementary School in Ljubljana, one of the RE:PLAY pilot schools included into the co-creative design of play spaces.
The video editing workshop was conducted online, the video materials were reviewed and prepared in advance by editors and mentors. The main purpose was for children to learn the basics of editing and directing videos, and the result was a promotional video of activities of the RE: PLAY project, which was created from videos taken by the same children in previous workshops in autumn 2021.
Young students learned how to insert video clips into a timeline, how to trim them, add a text to the video and how to make soft or playful transitions between clips to tie them together. They have learned that video editing programs can be quite easy to use and also offer tools for adding music, titles, and other graphic elements.
The first group of children worked on the start of the short video while the second group gave the video an almost final look – the students have chosen a style how the credits are displayed, as befits a proper movie.
In just two school hours, the students learned the basics of directing and editing, and a product was created that is already available for viewing. Are you curious?
