Playground and garden plan

The green open space next to the school has been looking for suitable use for many years. What would you do there if you could choose? Would you like to have less room to play? An outdoor classroom or dining room? A garden for growing herbs, spices and berries?

In the Pazi! Park Association, in cooperation with the Majda Vrhovnik Primary School and with the support of the City of Ljubljana, we will rearrange the green space next to the school this year (Community redevelopment of green space is a small project that will be harmonized in terms of content and design with the broader project of integrated arrangement of open areas of the Majda Vrhovnik Primary School, which is being prepared in 2019). Since the space will be intended primarily for students, we will take into account their wishes and ideas as much as possible when designing the arrangement. We want to combine the useful with the fun and reduce costs, so we will also undertake the reorganization to a large extent together with students, parents and school staff, and we will leave more demanding work to professionals. In this way, the space will be revived with the help and wishes of all those involved in the process of community renovation.

The project will take place in two steps:

1. Planning: We will start the planning process immediately after the May Day holidays. We will first prepare a reorganization plan together with the children and according to their wishes. Both parents and children will help us a lot, as they will contribute their ideas to the wish box, fill out an online questionnaire and participate in other activities about which we will keep them informed.
2. Performance: from June to October 2019, we will organize work campaigns, with which we will also implement the prepared plan. We will do less demanding work together with students, parents and teachers, and we will leave more demanding work to experts. Together with your child, you can participate, for example, in the implementation of any of the arrangements (painting, sanding, digging, landscaping, planting, etc.) or by bringing good snacks and refreshing drinks to the work campaign. We are also looking for help from parents in organizing and communicating and raising financial and material resources.
