Planting workshop with the Grey Wolf scouts successfully completed!
As part of the UrbanOasis project, we held a planting workshop at the courtyard of Prežihov Voranc Primary School in collaboration with members of the Grey Wolf Scout Group. Around 30 participants—both leaders and younger scouts—joined forces, making the work progress quickly and smoothly.
We planted 125 seedlings across 30 m², including 15 shrubs and 110 perennials. The plant selection was carefully tailored to the specific conditions of the site. Since the area is shaded, we chose resilient species that thrive in urban environments, tolerate occasional drought, and require minimal maintenance. We also focused on plants that attract pollinators such as bees and butterflies, provide food for birds, and enhance the visual diversity of the space year-round.
Pleased with the work accomplished, we now eagerly await spring, when the plants will begin to flourish, giving shape to the newly transformed green space. The full impact of our efforts will be visible within the next two to three years, as the plants grow to their optimal size.
A big thank you to all the participants for their help and enthusiasm! We look forward to future activities under the UrbanOasis project and further opportunities to collaborate with the local community.
